Early on, Jaki studied art and design at Parsons School of Design, NYC mastering technique, use of colour, and involvement with expressive compositions. She further expanded her studies incorporating architectural design, form, and function that fused an unusual alliance between free form expressionism and representational art. There is a strong influence of various art-movement styles, Abstract Expressionism, Modernism, and Classical Impressionism, throughout Jaki’s Gallery Collections.

Today, Jaki is best known for her exciting outlook and focus on the influence of colour using a multi-dimensional point of view. The visual impression is non-objective and can be characterized in terms of the shifting effect of light, depth of pigments, and technique used.

Integrating style with bold brush strokes while seeking to capture a feeling or experience of the perceived moment has become a signature hallmark of Jaki’s combined artistic approach.

Jaki often describes her artwork in a very stylistic way. “For me, a painting is an instantaneous expression of nature that does not stand still. As a painting develops, colour takes its place as scale and design. It’s born out of an idea, luck, risk, into what might even be a raw image. Then I let it tell me what comes next, until I get the reflection and order that satisfies my creative eye. The result is ‘Contemporary Expressionism’ and, I trust, an exciting visual image.”
